Doping in the NHL ? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 December 2008 09:01
The hockey world was shocked a few months ago when it was announced that Alexei Cherepanov, New York Rangers' top prospect and Russian phenom, collapsed during a match in the KHL and passed away from a rare heart condition. It was shocked even more today when TSN released a report saying that Russian investigators found traces of performance-enhancing drugs in Cherepanov's urine and blood samples that they took after his death. Russia's Federal Investigative Committee said a chemical analysis of the samples allowed experts to conclude "that for several months Alexei Cherepanov engaged in doping." The woman who reported this refused to release what drugs they found in him, but did specify …

2008's top 10 sports stories and the decisions behind them 5 comments December 23, 2:12 PM by Paula Duffy, Sports Examiner « Previous Next » Here's the thing about hindsight: It can make you feel like a fool or it can confirm your best instincts. In either case it's a good idea to look back and realize that behind every famous or infamous result there was a bold decision. Here are my picks in no particular order with accompanying slide show. Add one if you think I missed your favorite. Green Bay traded Brett Favre. Aaron Rodgers has had a good year for a kid who never played more than a few series on offense in three years. But the team is 5-10 after bein…

Billups for Iverson trade.  Mr. Big Shot was the straw that stirred the Pistons during their entire current run.  The Grant Hill/Ben Wallace trade was the first move, but the Chauncy pick up was the most important.  Sending him to Denver for Allen Iverson signaled change.  It officially ended an era.  It also hasn't worked at all, though I'm a firm believer this was just a salar…

Meyer: Notre Dame is my dream job PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 December 2008 10:49
Am I the only guy who is convinced that Urban Meyer is headed to Notre Dame the second the father's pull the plug on Fat Charlie ? In comments that harken back to our recent thread that Florida coach Urban Meyer will be the next head coach of Notre Dame, Meyer himself raised eyebrows again confirming that his "dream job" is that of Irish head coach during an interview on Jim Mandich’s WQAM AM-560 radio show this week. Mandich: "I think a lot of people were fascinated that (in 2004) you were looking at Notre Dame and the University of Florida, and you turned down what at one time was your dream job. Saturday, 13 December 2008 11:22
