 It had been nine years since Richard Mysliwiec of Grand Rapids and his family had sold the lease to operate Berlin Raceway in Marne.But he still cared deeply about the drivers, the track's success and the fans. He called me nearly every week this past summer to find out how the races went the previous weekend.Mysliwiec's funeral was Tuesday. He died Friday night at his home at age 82 after a long illness.Berlin was founded by Mysliwiec's brother, Chester, in 1951. The three brothers ran the track through 2000.  Stock car racing fans throughout Michigan once again will have two opportunities to catch the traveling ARCA Series up close in 2010.Officials recently announced next year's schedule, and the circuit will make its annual trips to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn for the June 11 Racing for Wildlife 200 and Berlin Raceway in Marne for the Aug. 7 ARCA 200.The Berlin date traditionally has been in July."We've been fortunate to maintain a good relationship with Berlin Raceway management, from the Mysliwiec family to the Whitecaps to Mike Blackmer," ARCA president Ron Drager said.  2009 certainly looks like it is going to go off with a BANG !
Spartan Speedway has announced its 2009 rules and you might be quite surprised to find that they are closer to most other area tracks then they have ever been.
The racers dream of common rules for common classes is almost a reality.
